Joseph Hyde: Hybrid Technologies for Performing Sound and Image
Visible Bits, Audible Bytes (VBAB) returns to Phoenix, celebrating the unification of sound and moving image through the arts and technology! See how artists and composers from around the world are using new technologies to animate imaginative audiovisual worlds and explore new relationships between the eye and the ear. This year, the event expands to a full day of activities, including artists talks, workshops, and performance.
As part of VBAB 2023 we are delighted to welcome pioneering British audiovisual artist Joseph Hyde, whose work spans electronic music, video art, installations and dance collaborations. Hyde is also Emeritus Professor of Creative Music Technology at Bath Spa University.
In this fascinating talk he’ll discuss his unique approach to performing music and visuals live, based on hybridised setups involving real-time generative systems, analogue modular synthesis and VJ (video-jockey) software.
