How We Sound
How We Sound is a text, sound and network installation. Responding to the themes of the ICA’s touring Shout Out! exhibition the work discusses the changes in technology that have affected media distribution since the late ’80s. It also examines the ideas of community and locality present within the history of pirate radio.
Visitors are invited to ‘tune in’ to the audio piece which attempts to approximate the experience of the analog radio. Visitors are also encouraged to join the wifi network which allows participation in a forum unconnected from the Internet and accessible only within the café space. The work includes audio pieces made by, and in collaboration with, Nathan Bissette.
